Responsibilities 

  • Working with clients to review their design requirements and develop representative FEA models

  • Undertaking FEA analysis using both linear and non-linear solvers and interpreting the results to determine structural integrity

  • Using FEA to assess the integrity of existing building products, as well as developing new ones

  • Taking a proactive role in undertaking research and advancing design policy. This will involve liaising with both external parties, clients and our in-house team

Requirements

  • either BEng (Hons) or Master’s Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering

  • experience in using Solidworks simulation or similar FEA analysis software

  • a passion for engineering design and problem solving

  • excellent communication skills both verbal and written

  • an analytical approach to complex interactions and connections

  • ability to work independently and diligently

Solidworks / FEA Engineer  (UK and Portugal)

Responsibilities 

  • Assessing and producing calculations for building and façade loading in accordance with Eurocodes and using CFD software where required

  • Assessing movement and tolerance reports for buildings and using it to assess compatibility for different types of façade system

  • Producing structural designs for various elements of façades including aluminium, steel and glass using software packages Solidworks, S-Frame, Scia engineer and SJ Mepla

  • Designing bespoke structures including glass buildings and components, architectural canopies, brise soleil and bespoke architectural metalworks

  • Assisting our clients to develop and test new products

  • Contributing to research in this area of work by attending internal and external workshops, and through testing, FEA or other research present findings on behalf of the company

Requirements

  • either BEng (Hons) or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering

  • a passion for engineering design

  • an appreciation of true behaviour of structures

  • an analytical approach to complex interactions and connections

  • an eye for detail

  • excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • practical experience of numerical analysis, intelligent spreadsheet design or programming / software development would be an advantage

Both internal and external training will be provided. However, candidates are expected to bring their own ideas, and be ready to contribute not only to the development of the business, but to the wider profession.
